Building / Hall & Room Allocation

Applicants are required to indicate 2 room type preferences in the housing application.

All successful hall applicants will be considered together in the order from 1st to 2nd room type preference. A system-generated random number is applied in each room type preference indicated by the applicant, in case the demand for a particular room type is greater than supply - in which case, allocation to the room type is determined randomly. In the case that applicants are not assigned to any of their preferred room(s) due to high demand and limited supply, they will be assigned to any room on a random basis.

Successful hall applicants who are current residents in Spring 2023 and indicate the same preference as their current bedspaces in the hall application of Residential Year 2023-24 are likely to be assigned to their current bedspaces subject to room availability.

Couple Room Allocation

Allocation of couple rooms is subject to proof verification and room availability. Applicants who request for couple room MUST indicate it as their 1st preference. Otherwise, their application for couple room will NOT be considered. In case the demand is greater than the supply, applicants will be allocated to other room types and added to the waitlist for couple rooms. They will receive notification once couple rooms become available.

There are no building preferences but only room type preferences in the housing application:

Building  Room Type

# As the new UG Hall construction project located behind GGT is in progress, applicants are reminded that there will be dust and noise disturbances generating from the new project aforementioned nearby GGT in daytime.

^ Other room type preference in housing application will be considered if application from room for married couple is unsuccessful.

Any of the room preferences indicated by applicants serve as a reference only. Room allocation is done on random basis. In case the demand is greater than the supply and preferences indicated will be considered as far as possible and subject to availability.

There is NO GUARANTEE that you will be assigned to a particular student hall, room type or with a specific roommate. Final room assignment is subject to room availability. Student Housing and Residential Life Office and the Residence Master reserve the right to make alternative assignment decisions or re-assign students as appropriate.
