Remarks:

1. Failure to settle the hall charges IN FULL by the payment due date will result in cancellation of hall offer without prior notification. Hall Charges paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.

2. If there is any change in your registration status such as extension of length of study, exchange-out or leave of study, you will NOT be eligible for student housing. You are required to inform the Student Housing and Residential Life Office immediately and you do not need to pay the hall charges for the hall residence. In case it is confirmed that you are not eligible for student housing but are already a hall resident, you are still required to vacate from your hall residence by a specified time. 3. If you decide not to stay in the hall in 2023-24, please email us immediately to confirm your hall withdrawal so that your bed space can be offered to other students.

 

Payment Schedule

Hall charges are collected in 2 installments (Fall Term and Spring Term). The amount will be posted to the Student Information System (SIS) and student can view their charge statement via myPortal at http://my.ust.hk.

 

Payment Method

1. Payment methods accepted by the University are available HERE.

2. After payment at bank or through internet, keep the payment record as proof in case verification is needed.

3. If you encounter any financial difficulties that you wish to defer the payment, you may apply to the Scholarship and Financial Aid Office (SFAO) for deferment of the payment of hall charges. Information is available HERE.

* RPg students refer to full-time full fee paying registered HKUST(CWB) Research Postgraduate (RPg) students.

 

Remark:

  1. Accommodation charge of the University Apartments includes utility charge and SKCC Hall residents are required to pay for air-conditioning charges according to consumption. Laundry charges are NOT included in the charges listed above. Allocation of building/room type and room is subject to demand and supply.
  2. A new environmental friendly Smartmeter Project is scheduled to be fully launched in GGT on 1 October 2022. Utility charges in student bedroom of GGT will be charged according to actual consumption. Further details are available here.
  3. Accommodation charges must be paid in FULL and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students who accept the housing offers are committed to pay the accommodation charges of the ENTIRE period they have accepted irrespective of their actual days of stay.
  4. Students are required to complete check-in procedure 14 days from the commencement date of the hall offer period. If they are unable to check in to the hall by the period aforementioned, they should email Student Housing and Residential Life Office (SHRLO) at pghousing@ust.hk immediately to provide the exact date of late check-in. If they fail to check-in and do NOT inform SHRLO of the late check-in before the check-in period, SHRLO will reserve the right to recover the hall place offered, and assess a fee incurred for the residential period they have accepted even if the hall offer is being cancelled after the deadline. 

 

Payment Schedule

Accommodation charges are to be paid by monthly installments. Monthly charges are posted to SIS in the middle of each month, and are to be settled by end of each month. 

 

Example - for accommodation charges for October 2023,

  • Charge will be posted to SIS in mid-October 2023 (around 15 October 2023)
  • Charge will be due on 30 October 2023

 

Payment Method

For postgraduate studentship (PGS) recipients

Residents concerned will receive system notification upon charge posting. If residents concerned has PGS, the accommodation charge will be settled by the PGS within a few days after posting, and the PGS disbursed would be the remaining amount after deducting necessary fees.

Note: above arrangements only apply to accommodation-related charges; please consult relevant offices for more information on the payment, deferral and PGS deduction for tuition and other fees posted to SIS.

 

For non-PGS recipients

The accommodation charges are to be paid by monthly installments. Students may login to SIS via myPortal at http://my.ust.hk (under Student Centre) to view the charge statement and settle the charges by the payment due date upon receipt of the charge posting notification. Please also be advised to keep a copy of the payment record in case there are any problems with the payment. Details of the payment methods accepted by the University are available hereFailure to settle the accommodation charges before the deadline may result in cancellation of offer without prior notification.

Students who accepted the offer are committed to pay the hall charges for the residential period they have accepted irrespective of their actual days they stay. Early withdrawal would be considered case by case and on a term-basis. All charges paid are NON-refundable and NON-transferable.

 

Early Withdrawal

If you intend to check out earlier than the last day of your residential period stated previously, you are required to submit written notification to SHRLO at least ONE MONTH before your desired move out date.

For check-out before the last day of offered stated previously, the last month hall fee will be calculated as follows:

  • Residents have to pay half of the monthly hall fee if they check out at any time on or before 12 noon on the 16th of the month; otherwise,
  • Residents shall pay a full month's hall fee if they check out at any time after 12 noon on the 16th of the month.
